ומינה מה שתויי יין דמחלי עבודה אף פרועי ראש דמחלי עבודה קשיא

— He answered: Were itwritten, 'They shall not let [their hair] grow to become 'pera''; it wouldhave meant what you suggest. But since the text reads, And their locks [pera']they shall not let grow, it implies that they may let it become 'pera'' butthereafter must not let it grow longer. If so [that the prohibition is basedon that verse], it should [hold good] even nowadays, [when there is no Temple]!— This [restriction] is analogous to [that of] wine: just as wine was forbidden[them] only when they entered [theTemple],<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ezek. XLIV, 21: Neither shall any priest drink wine when they enter into the inner court. ');">19</span>
